Re:       The ICIAI Test Booklet

Thank you for your interest in our Individualism-Collectivism Interpersonal Assessment Inventory (ICIAI). IC is an important dimension of psychological variation between cultural groups, and has been used to predict and explain cultural similarities and differences across a wide range of psychological phenomena. This test is one of the few available today that allows researchers to assess IC tendencies related to the interpersonal context across multiple social groups and rating domains. The unique features of this test are:

IC tendencies are assessed across four social groups

IC tendencies are assessed as ratings of values and self-reported behaviors

The same items are used across social groups and domains; thus items do not confound these variables

Individual level assessment of IC tendencies provides researchers with a method to check empirically whether or not groups (national, ethnic, etc.) in their research differ on IC tendencies prior to testing for differences on dependent variables of interest. Individual level assessment of IC tendencies also allows researchers to use IC scores as covariates in group difference testing, which in turn allow for the computation of direct estimates of the contributions of IC to group differences (e.g., through effect size analyses).

In this packet, you will find the following material:

            1.         The ICIAI Test Booklet
      2.         The ICIAI Scoring Key

3.         Two copies of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Please review the MOU in its entirety.  It describes what you can do with this test, and your obligations in exchange for use of the test.  Please sign one copy and return to me at the address listed on the cover sheet of the test.

Again, thank you for using the ICIAI, and good luck with your research.
